(1) Abundant Solar Resource

Located in the Northwestern Qinghai Province, Qaidam Basin is generally regarded as one of optimal locations in China to build large-scale on-grid solar power plant. The average total annual sunshine hours of Qaidam Basin is about 3,200 to 3,600 per year, and the total annual solar radiation reaches 6,618.3 MJ/m2～7,356.9 MJ/m2.

(2) Vast Land Resource

Qaidam Basin covers an area of 74.6 million acres, of which the unused land is about 48.2 million acres. According to statistics, 24.6 million acres of the unused land could be used for solar energy projects development.

(3) Established Transportation and Power Grids Network

Qaidam Basin has very convenient access to the well-established transportation network with a lot of multi-level highways, from national, provincial to state ones, and newly-established railyway from Qinghai to Tibet,etc. The power grid infrastructure in Qaidam Basin is also very advanced, which facilitates the on-grid power station commercialization.

(4)Large Proportion of Water Power and Great Adjustability
 
Qinghai province currently has large proportion of water power, which accounts for 70% of total capacity of provincial power grid.

(5)Huge Power Consumption

In line with the implementation of West-East Power Transmission Project, the power grid in western China is increasing significantly.
